Gena Knox has a great southern blog. She recently did a story on boiled peanuts and was kind enough to mention Boiled in Brooklyn.  Check out the story and the rest of the blog.

Sunday: Boiled in Brooklyn at the Brooklyn Bridge Flea
Joining the Red Hook Lobster Pound, People’s Pops, and Blue Marble Ice Cream this week at the Brooklyn Bridge Flea Market are Boiled in Brooklyn’s Goober Peas. For their debut at the Flea, Kate and Chris will be boiling up several special flavors of boiled peanuts: "salty classic" for the traditionalists, "spicy cajun" for those looking for a bit more of a kick, "less salty" as a low sodium option, and "special blend" a mix of Thai seasonings (this one will change weekly). All of these will be made using fresh “green” peanuts that Kate and Chris will boil on site in small batches. Like good Southerners, they’ll be offering fresh-brewed (not too sweet) sweet tea, and chilled watermelon slices. See you at the Flea!

stoop sale 08/10/2009

Kate and I decided to use our stoop sale as a testing ground of sorts for our boiled peanut concept.  We made two batches, one was the traditional sea salt and water recipe and in the other we added a blend of cayenne, old bay, and garlic.  We also made a batch of homemade, dark chocolate chunk cookies (based on my mom's recipe) and brewed some complimentary sweet tea.

Kate and I were up late into the night working on your first batch of Boiled in Brooklyn Goober Peas.  It was a fun time, but Griff couldn't take the late hours.
